  5. Workstation Basic is a highly interactive and portable multi-user business
  6. programming environment based on IBM's mainframe BASICs. It forms a shell
  7. around the host operating system and handles all essential operating system
  8. functions: programs may be loaded and executed; files may be created, deleted
  9. or copied; and all program development can be done within Workstation Basic.
  10. Advanced features include windows, complete record-locking and file-sharing
  11. options, online help for programmers and context-sensitive help that may be
  12. built into programs, asynchronous communications, keyed-file access, a
  13. configuration file that specifies global defaults and substitutions for
  14. programs (saving hundreds of hours for individual program changes), and
  15. utilization of the full screen for input/output. Workstation Basic Applications
  16. are 100 percent source code portable to a variety of operating systems and
  17. hardware platforms. It is installed at over 10,000 sites and more than 250
  18. vertical and horizontal software packages are currently available in
  19. Workstation Basic.
